Monarch Butterfly - Pin
Out of Stock

Description
Danaus plexippus One of the most interesting and well know lepidopterons, the Monarch is most famous for its breath takingly long and precise fall migrations. Individuals may fly over 2000 miles to congregate with thousands of others of its kind to winter in trees (Pacific Grove, CA). The species also represents a dramatic example of "mimicry" where another species (the Viceroy) adopts its colors through natural selection in order to share defense (distastefulness) against certain predators.
