Comparing the engines.
This section should help if you are buying or selling an engine and want to know in advance what it is you are getting...(or, what you are selling ). Consult this information, or point it out to your seller so they can make a judgement about what they've got. I'm getting better at it, but I have bought two or three engines which were sworn to be Bantams, but which in fact turned out to be Austins. Usually it's inadvertent...someone like a widow or heir has an engine and doesn't know what it is. The engine number is the best indicator, but even that isn't foolproof.
