AUSTIN vs BANTAM RADIATORS

Q Which is which on radiators? I have some with tall tanks and some
with shorter tanks.

A. You should be able to quickly tell the Austin radiator from the Bantam by the
filler neck location. The filler neck for the Austin is top center. The Bantam
filler neck is located on the left side of center
on the top of the tank. Bantam
had at first a 5 quart capacity system, ( this includes radiator, block and
hoses) and the later Bantam had a 6 quart system. Hemphlings Bantam factory
records notes when the change was made.

Q: I may have installed an Austin in my Bantam!

All American Austin radiators are close to the same, except for the location of
the bottom water outlet location. This location differed with the cars having a
L engine and those having the M engine.
