CONNECTING RODS
Those rods are definitely NOT Bantam 2 main or 3 main. They
appear to
be similar to American Austin, but the ody bounce he gives are
a little
different in places. The wrist pin he gives is 0.500 which is
the same
as Austin. The Bantam wrist pins, 2 main and 3 main. are 0.6082
to
0.6102. Center to center for the Austin is 6-3/32" and the
Bantam 2 and
3 main are 5.748 to 5.752. The standard wrist pin for the 2 and
3 main
Bantams was 0.6095 to 0.6096.
The American Austin and Bantam connecting rods have raised
parts numbers
on the casting web as viewed from the side. For the American Austin
it
is A-1047; for the 2 main Bantam it is A-3677, and for the 3
main
Bantam it is A-8861. I might be off on the last digit as there
is a
difference in the casting number and the finished connecting rod.
I took
these numbers off of the factory blueprints.
Anyway, save your money. There are a lot of American Austin
connecting
rods around. Good rebuildable Bantam rods, both 2 main and 3
main are
hard to find.
