I have done volunteer seabird research
out on the Chain for the past two summers. The Aleutians are absolutely
amazing...the land that time forgot. We had to "grub" for puffin chicks to
weigh and measure them, and every once in a while mom or dad was home.
Those beaks aren't just for decoration or bad water colorists either; they
can put some serious hurt on you. We have the two Alaska species shown
here...tufted and horned! But, puffins are only part of the deal out there.
Albatross, auklets, murrelets, gulls, murres etc etc.
Seems like there are a million bird sites, but, for one that's truly
twisted
check out Bick E. Bird. Not your usual bird site and very
amusing.
