As mentioned above, we like to row out in the wilds of
Southeast Alaska. Here we are out in Icy Straits, just in front of Glacier
Bay. Whales, seals, otters, sea lions, various birds abound. We worry very
much about the incessant clear cutting which is highly subsidized by the
Federal Government and Indian Corporations here. More on this later when I
get the page rolling.
It's pouring down rain, the wind has come up and you've got a 6 foot
sea on top of a 8 foot swell following you, and with maybe a 20 foot
tide which has turned against you because you're late, and you can't
quite tell whether that land mass off to starboard is your turning
point or not... well, you've just got to be philosophical about it. I
always
find Nietzsche a source of comfort...
