What's my car worth?! or How much should I pay?
The short answer seems to be from 200 $US to 25,000+ $US although there
have been recent sales both lower and higher.
The 25k should get you close to a museum quality open Bantam... The
former could get you a hulk of a Austin coupe that's been rusting out in
the open for 50 years. Most cars are somewhere in between.
Price is a touchy subject, so I will just post a sort of running score here
of ads, sales etc. that come to my attention and let you figure it out.
Most of these will of course be asking prices, but if it's an actual sale
I will indicate with an asterik * Prices are US$ .
Keep in mind that after these basic prices are digested the main issue
is HOW COMPLETE and original is the car? If you are buying a project your
job is going to be much easier if you don't have to spend a fortune in dead
end phone calls, fruitless trips, and etherial leads trying to find the
right tail lights for your car. Many sellers will not know the difference,
so, of course it is "original". Never mind that sixty years of
owners have been adding and subtracting parts, wrecking it, leaving it out
in the rain and so on. Also, transporting these things all over the place
is not all that easy. Better budget 500 to 1000$ more if it's not near you.
After that it's up to you. A fair price is one agreed upon by a willing
buyer and a willing seller. You should both go away happy.
